Today, I had a chance to listen to third grade teacher Mark Ahlness share his blogging teacher experiences in third grade via the Over the Pond and Through the Fiber Podcast. Since I was a third grade teacher once--who taught writing--I'd like to think that I might be doing what Mark's doing now with his students. If you haven't been there already, visit the Mighty Writers' Blog. Reading August's blog "It's All About Me So Deal with It!," I ran across the following entry:
My favorite website is Room twelve.com because I have my own blog. I'm really lucky because I'm one of the 22 kids in my class that get to have their own website. They can write articles about what they like, what their favorite food is, and what their favorite color is. Well to put it shortly ROOM TWELVE ROCKS!!!!!!!
Sometimes I wish I was back in the classroom, but then I remember that Mark's in Washington, I'm in Test, Test 'em again, Test 'em some more Texas. Let's hope that examples like Mark keep the flame alive for the rest of teachers who have had to close down!
These writings do not reflect my employer's views, only my own. Furthermore, any resemblance to events or individuals/groups in my school district is purely coincidental, an accident of interpretation. Questions? Leave a comment or email me at "mguhlin@gmail.com".
