What a funny, delightful conversation this was! It started out with a formalness of strangers and by the end was a lot more comfortable! Thanks to the participants (shown below)!
Heather Burleson, 7th-8th grade in East Texas
John Blake, North Carolina, blogging since Blogmeister beta!
Kathy Cassidy, Canada
Vicki Davis, CoolCat Teacher
Miguel Guhlin, San Antonio, TX
Sharon Peters, Montréal, Canada
Kyle Stevens, Dallas, TX
Jennifer Wagner
It was a bit rough at first as we explored the pauses that occur between folks who've never met face to face, yet, you may find the conversation...heartening. That's the word for it. I honestly felt like I was sitting with folks. I'd like to express my gratitude to those folks that chose to show up and chat. One of the overarching themes that kept coming up, whether it appeared as Vicki Davis' "students' need for digital communication," or Kathy/Sharon's idea that the technology brings us into contact with folks, is the power that exists in relationships. Social networks are being built where they never existed before.
David Warlick, you'll want to listen to the testimonials at the end of the audiocast....

On a technical note, I did this recording on a Windows machine running Skype, Firefox and used Total Recorder ($17.95) to record the whole conversation...went off without a hitch.
