For several years, I used the ad-sponsored version of Eudora (or the free Eudora Lite that was available before that). Again, what caught my attention is that it's going open source in 2007!
Eudora is a well-loved if somewhat outdated email client that many people (Qualcomm claims millions of users, which sounds accurate) continue to use just for its unique feature set. When the open source version of Eudora is released in the first half of 2007, Qualcomm will discontinue selling the commercial version of the client. Right now, Eudora costs $19.95 per license, and that price also buys you six months of tech support. When the new version is released, it will have the same functionality and features that long-time Eudora users expect.

An FAQ for Eudora's transition to open source is available. Since the code will be open-source, I'm hoping that they will also develop for Linux, rather than just for Windows and Mac OS.
